I had hoped that this weekend would turn out dry so I could take my camera out for a long overdue field trip to .. anywhere really.
Not surprisingly the weather has been really bad over the last couple of days with rain and wind forecast for the next couple of *weeks* 🙁
So, since I’m stuck in the house I decided to start working through my back catalog of images and see if I can improve my skills at post processing. I.E. Making the raw images look better using a selection of apps on my pc.
One thing that started to stand out was the amount of noise on my camera if I have to increase the ISO past about 400. At 400 it’s bad, but not unusable. At higher ISO the noise gets pretty intrusive. I have been experimenting with various noise reduction methods, using Lightroom, Photoshop and most recently an app called Noise Ninja. I am really impressed with how simple it is to get good results from noise ninja, just not sure I want to buy *another* app when I think I should be able to get similar results from the ones I already have. I guess I’ll experiment more in Photoshop before I take the plunge and buy Noise Ninja… it’s not that expensive I guess 😉
Now tho? I since I can only see about 15cm square of my desktop I better do some tidying up, lol.
