So I spent the 16 hours travelling to get to LAX, made my way slowly through customs / immigration and was picked up by tinyfroglet and promptly drove to the days final destinaton, about an hour away. All in all the flights and travelling was not too bad, certainly nowhere near as bad as I had been expecting. The planes were pretty much on schedule and even meeting up with tinyfroglet was painless.
Apparently the weather right up until I arrived was pretty nice, and it got cloudy about an hour before I landed, so it seems I brought the weather with me 🙁 Still it’s certainly warmer than Scotland, if not particularly sunnier at the moment.
Monday was rounded off with a walk around the neighbourhood where tinyfroglet lives, I was pretty tired by that point, but with LA being -8 hours to UK time didn’t want to just crash out on arrival. Spent the rest of the evening watching Veronica Mars (after a quick visit to Best Buy to get the first season), and playing Rock Band! I think I finally got sent to bed around 10pm local time… lol.
Tuesday was very much a chill day. Watching some Veronica Mars, played some rock band, went out for lunch, then again for dinner. We even managed to throw in a little grocery shopping so there was something in the house that I could eat.
Wednesday was a pretty quiet day. I actually slept pretty well and wasn’t too tired when I woke. The day was pretty overcast, so no opportunity to get out with the camera really. We had lunch plans with some of tinyfroglet‘s friends, of course I threw a spanner in the works with my feeding habits. Still a pleasant time was had with C, K and us, pleasant company and a quiet afternoon all round. We bailed from C’s place mid afternoon since tinyfroglet wanted a nap, I even snoozed for a couple of hours
We did get a nice day on Thursday and took advantage to walk around a nature preserve nearby, cameras in hand. Seems I’m a bit out of practice on the camera front tho, so only a couple of usable pics from that walk. Saw a lot of humming birds some water birds, vultures, ravens and a couple of hawks. Lunch was once again with C and K at an Indian restaraunt. It was a buffet thing and even I managed to find something edible. After that tinyfroglet had a massage appointment so I retreated to my room and chilled out for a couple of hours listening to music and generally taking it easy… with the window open and the fan at full to get the temperature down to something survivable, lol! J was due home at around 11pm from his trip, it was a struggle for us to stay awake that long! So we all retired for the evening shortly after he arrived.
For some reason I didn’t sleep on Thursday night, not sure if I was too warm or just the jet lag catching up on me. So I was pretty tired yesterday, tho I did go back to bed for an hour or so which helped. The day was spent watching Scrubs episodes, playing WoW. Unfortunately tinyfroglet turned out to have been coming down with a cold and wasn’t feeling too great. J and I played WoW in the afternoon while she went for a nap. The evening was filled with more Scrubs and more Rock Band!
So, as you can see I’ve been taking it pretty easy, you need to remember that playing Rock Band is one of the reasons I came over to visit :p
I got up about half an hour ago, the weather today looks like it might be pretty nice, not as much cloud and what there is doesn’t realy threaten rain from what I’ve seen out the window. The only thing on todays schedule for definite is a Rock Band party this evening with some of the guild memebers from WoW possibly dropping in to say hi. Should be cool to put some faces to names.
So, as you can see it’s been a pretty relaxing trip so far. I’m really enjoying myself! Hopefully the weather will pick up a bit next week so I can see some more of the country and get out with the camera some more. I don’t have any editing software on this laptop, an oversight on my part so I can’t really put any pics up. You’ll just have to wait until I get home.
