So due to it raining yesterday I spent my evening in front of the PC until after midnight (I get up at 6:30am for work) I spent today feeling tired. Still I survived my day at work and was glad to see the sky clearing a bit as I headed for home.
There were still clouds in the sky and some threatening rain but it didn’t look like it was going to imminently pour down. Throwing caution to the wind I decided to check out the other direction of the smugglers trail I discovered on monday.
I headed up to the loans suffering from the aches caused by monday’s expedition and proceeded to spend 10 mins figuring out where the trail started… finally solving that problem I proceeded to walk the trail over the hill, through the woods to Dundonald, finishing up at the castle. At least by the time I had located the start the muscle aches had gone as I warmed up some.
At this point, having walked a few miles I looked at the sky to see looming dark clouds coming in from the direction of home… I *did* give a few minutes consideration to calling home for a lift but decided “What the hell!” as long as it wasn’t raining I may aswell start walking back.
That hill that I walked DOWN at the end of the trail was most pleasant on the way out. It damned near KILLED me on the way back, lol. Once that was passed tho it was plain sailing, the trail does go up and down some but that was the worst part.
I have decided tho that the boots I have been wearing are not really up to the task, the soles are too soft and the grip is not great so I may have to invest in some decent hiking boots if I keep this up.
Todays walk was about 8 miles, I’m not precisely sure it may be slightly less, the GPS in my phone struggled with the tree cover but my pedometer indicates just over 8 miles today. Let’s call it 7 for ease.
