So, I’ve now moved to a new role at work, similar job but dealing with engineers instead of customers. So in some ways a lot easier, but at the same time a bit more technical. My wages also went up a bit, not directly related but still welcome 🙂 As a result work has been a bit intrusive for the last week or so and I haven’t had as much free time as I might like.
I’ve just had an interesting chat, if you can call it that, With friends on skype. As usual I was not as vocal as I can be, but I think that was pretty much what they expected. They also did a Tarot reading for me, which was interesting. For several reasons that I will not go into just now.
One thing that was commented on was my lack of creativity lately. This, in many ways, reflects precisely on the fact I have not been out with my camera. Of late my photos have been pretty much my only creative outlet, and one that I enjoy a great deal. I will definitely be taking the camera out and about again in the near future. In that respect I have just started reading a book called “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson. The book is a guide to understanding manual exposure settings and how they interact with the final result. Having struggled lately with my inability to capture shots I believe I should be able to I am finding the book to be very enlightening.
My plan is to finish reading the book and then take my camera for an outing with the mode dial set on M. Photography is most definitely a creative thing, but it has technical elements too and I’m a gadget freak after all! With luck, practice and, I expect, a lot of patience I hope I’ll be able to improve on some of my recent photographic attempts.
The other things that have been eating into my time somewhat are Rockband, and catching up on some DVDs I’ve had lying around for a while. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Veronica Mars. I really did not enjoy Alien Vs Predator Requiem… avoid that one if you haven’t seen it yet! I do still have a few things left in the “to watch” pile – namely Blade the series, Red Dwarf Season VIII and Stardust. I’ve actually seen Stardust when I was over in CA but I am looking forward to watching it again.
